I had a great experience staying at the Palm View Inn, all of my needs were met with a full, spacious kitchen, beach access, and access to beach chairs, and towels. Bike access allows easy and fun travel to the beach as well as all of Sanibel's shops and restaurants. I plan on visiting Sanibel again, and will certainly stay at the Palm View Inn.

On our 5th stay at Palmview we look forward to our 6th. It was clean, quiet, and pleasant. We used the new bikes and cooked when we wanted. We walked the 3 blocks from our door to the ocean's edge. Our English friends have stayed there 13 times so everyone thinks its something special. We updated to larger quarters which makes it extra special. We give it a 99 percent perfect rating. Hope to meet new friends there January and Feburary.

March 2013, stayed in Unit 1, a large, airy, fairly bright and nicely decorated unit (main room is 14 x 20 ft or so) with a great kitchen (gas stove, full fridge), comfy couch, nice TV, eating area near window. Bedroom is rather small, as is bathroom, but are fine. Nice place to sit out back. Manager Laurie very helpful. Also a BBQ outside or stove inside. Bikes and helmets in good condition available to borrow at no extra charge. Would heartily recommend. Short walk to long shell-laden beach, lots of seabirds, a bit busy at times but room to spread out. Also walking distance to a couple of restaurants and longer walk or biking distance to more shopping and large supermarket. Lots of small lizards or geckos on grounds, fun to watch.

Great little efficiency apartments, very clean. Lovely front porch area (had cocktails with the neighbors) and backyard area with hammock. Loved the outdoor sink for rinsing shells and suits. PERFECT location for a short bike ride to the beach or town, bikes provided by the Inn! I will definitely go back again, great place for a family reunion or group looking for their own rooms. High season traffic can be rough, bikes are the only way to get around Periwinkle. We drove the Inn-provided chairs and umbrella down to the private south beach (no restroom or lifeguard) and then returned on bike, it's that close!
Room Tip: Upstairs you have the sitting porch, downstairs you would go to the yard.

Reviewed March 28, 2012 The Sandpiper Inn offers a great value onSanibel Island. We stayed for a long weekend in March and had a wonderful experience. The owner/manager was very helpful upon check-in by familiarizing us with the island and nearby amenities. They provide all the essentials for a great beach weekend: a hammock, grill and outdoor seating, bikes, beach chairs and umbrellas. The rooms are comfortable and our kitchen was well equipped for cooking. The location is fantastic- easy walk to the beach and a nice walk/bike ride to shops and restaurants. We didn't use the car at all. We would definitely return!

We've been going to Sandpiper Inn for years around Christmas and New Years. They are within walking distance of the beach and all our favorite restaurants. Rooms are always clean and neat and quiet and they are always upgrading. The Owner/ manager Laurie is a pleasure to deal with- i call and make reservations and chat when she has time - sometimes we make our reservation when we leave at the end of our vacation. Kids like the cable TV and WIFI, shelling on the nearby beach and the parrots at the campground aviary. Kitchen is great for breakfast and lunch, market is within walking distance- we eat dinners out. Most nights the open windows provide all the cooling we need. Laundry facilities on-site so we can do wash while relaxing in the evening. We will be going back this year too.

We have stayed at this Inn several times in the past few years. The manager always makes us feel welcomed in this relaxed, peaceful enviroment. The rooms are always exceptionally clean and cozy, and has everything we need to feel comfortable. Bikes are available to ride, fully equipped kitchen, outdoor seating to sit and visit with friends or read a book, new barb-b-que grill to use, they even have movies that you can borrow. The rooms have recently been painted and updated. Just grab the beach chairs, beach towels, and umbrella that the Inn provides and take a 5 minute walk to the white sandy beach filled with shells. Enjoy the warmth of the Florida sunshine and treat yourself to a true vacation. We always enjoy our stay at the Palm View. It provides us with the amenities that we need in a price range we can affford, and we hope they never change that. Big plus, Laura the manager, adds to the charm of this place we call our home away from home.

We are nature photographers and so much in love with the Island's character, its people, its quaint small town atmosphere and the Island's emphasis on preservation awareness of its natural resources. We would not consider staying anywhere else while visiting this unique barrier island! The nature trails, the bird life and preservation efforts that Sanibel has enacted to preserve this unique coastal destination have no comparison in our book. The Palm View offers comfortable accommodations and cleanliness while remaining a stone's throw from all activities on the island.
You can spend a lot more for all the frills of upscale accommodations or enjoy Palm View's humble accommodations and enjoy the island's amenities more. We have been coming regularly for over 5 years and would not consider staying anywhere else as our activities and time is spent enjoying the island and its resources vs. staying at a resort, which you will pay for, and miss out on one of the most beautiful and naturally maintained coastal destinations. The manager has been instrumental in our coming back time and time again. It is because of her making us feel as if we are family that we continue our patronage and it sets this resort apart from the rest. With biking, beach walks, shell collecting, dolphin watching and Ding Darling National Wildlife refuge within minutes of the Palm View, this centrally located small unit accommodation could not be better suited for our needs and the needs of other nature lovers would want to be out enjoying what Sanibel is truly all about!

The location is perfect, a short walk to the beach and a short bike ride to shops and restaurants. What I really loved was having so much space, our own little house to relax at after exploring the island. It was so clean and complete with a kitchen and living room. There is even onsite laundry offered, a grill and bikes to use for a quick trip to the store or lunch. The beds are very comfortable and super clean. We had plenty of towels and appreciated knowing that we could contact the owner if we needed anything but would not be disturbed otherwise. The owner is super friendly and down to earth. She was in and out of the common area during the day and a pleasure to talk with. I would definitely stay there again and again when I get the opportunity. The price is excellent, too.

We stay here twice yearly. Clean and home like. Love the free bikes and chairs for the beach. Love the manager and her dog. Love the units with there kitchen and living room area. Great porch. Everything is great and we keep coming back year after year and love all the improvements they continue to make. Best value on the island for down to earth real people who appreciate life and this island. We have stayed in all the fancy inns prior to this and this it the best. Thanks Laurie

This was our 2nd stay here and better then the first which was real good. They have refresh the unit we stayed in and it made our stay that much more enjoyable. Sanibel has a wide range of prices, if you want guest service (another persons review) then you need to look somewhere else. This place is very price friendly. There is no 24 hour service and we don't need it. Everything you want is available. Free funky bikes ($15 saving a day), beach chairs and umbrellas. The kitchen saved us money again for breakfast or lunch so we could go out at night enjoy some nice dinners and not put us in the poor house which is very easy on Sanibel.

Very "beach shack chique." Loved my stay there and you get way more than what you pay for. Management is terrific, and it's a perfect distance from the beach: maybe a 5 minute walk! I worked at a 5 Star Hotel for 2 years, and I know what standards are. Now this place is not a 5 Star Hotel, but I know value for the money in a hotel when I see it, I know what to value and look for, and this place is the place to go!
